The Myth of “Not Enough”
“I’m not enough.”
“I’m not good enough.”
For so many women, those words feel like a constant whisper in the background. Sometimes it starts in childhood. Other times, it’s reinforced by culture, comparison, or the pressures of business ownership. In the professional world, we often call it imposter syndrome—that nagging fear that, at any moment, someone will discover we aren’t as capable or qualified as we appear.
My Own Journey with Feeling “Less Than”
I know this story all too well. As a young girl—and even into adulthood—I often felt I wasn’t enough. Not pretty enough, thin enough, smart enough, articulate enough, capable enough.
I could point to all the reasons why I carried those beliefs, but blaming others doesn’t move me forward. What does move me forward is recognizing that I am in control of how I show up each day.
I get to decide: Do I keep shrinking into “not enough”? Or do I claim the truth—that I am already more than enough?
Choosing to Claim “Enoughness”
Every day, I have the choice to show up as enough: good enough, worthy enough, more than enough. And most days, I do.
Being enough isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s about choosing how we respond, how we grow, and how we love. Each moment of learning, stretching, and expanding is proof that we are enough for this moment—and the next one that comes.
Growth, Learning, and Showing Up Fully
You don’t need to wait until you’ve “arrived” to claim your worth. You are enough as you are today—and you will still be enough tomorrow, even as you grow into the next version of yourself.
Our lives are a gift, and our worth is already woven into that gift. When we live fully, when we choose to see ourselves as enough, we find the courage to lead, to create, and to share our work with others in powerful ways.
A Daily Reminder of Worth
So, when doubt creeps in, remind yourself:
- I am enough in this moment.
- My worth isn’t up for debate.
- Growth and learning don’t make me less; they make me more.
The next time you feel yourself slipping into “not enough,” pause. Take a breath. Remember that enoughness is already yours.
